Travel expense and reimbursement is a common question for caregivers interested in working at Cooperative Care. We provide client errand mileage reimbursement and paid travel time to our caregivers! We value our caregivers and want to contribute to the wear and tear on their vehicles, gas expenses, and time spent in travel during their work hours.

Errand Mileage Reimbursement: Fair Compensation for Travel

At our home care cooperative, we understand that caregivers may need to travel between multiple clients during their workday. To ensure fair compensation for your travel expenses, we offer errand mileage reimbursement for the errands needed for clients. This policy allows you to be fairly compensated for the time and resources dedicated to providing quality care.

It's important to note that mileage reimbursement does not cover travel from your home to the first client's home, to the next client, and everywhere in between. Errand mileage reimbursement is paid for running clients to their appointments or running to the store for that client. 

Travel time is paid at wage between client's homes but is not paid from your home to a client's home, or from a client's home to your home.

How Errand Mileage Reimbursement Works

Errand Mileage reimbursement at Cooperative Care is tracked by our caregivers for each client to ensure accuracy and transparency. When caregivers travel between clients, they are not required to document the start and ending odometer readings for each trip. We only require you to keep track and document any miles you drive while running errands for clients. That information would be documented at the end of each client's shift while clocking out. Admin reviews the data, verifies the accuracy of the information provided, and calculates the reimbursement based on the approved mileage rate. The calculated reimbursement amount is then included in the caregiver's paycheck, ensuring that caregivers are fairly compensated for the distances traveled while delivering exceptional care to our clients.
