Caregiver pay: paying overtime and striving for a livable wage

One of the most common questions we get from caregivers looking into our cooperative is, "Do you provide overtime pay?" We chose a cooperative model here at Cooperative Care because we wanted in home caregivers to receive the respect, flexibility, and pay they deserved for their dedication to client well-being.

The short answer is: yes! We do provide overtime caregiver pay. Let’s dive into the specifics of our cooperative model and our pay policy.

How a cooperative approach helps us provide overtime caregiver pay and a livable wage.

Unlike traditional home care agencies, our Cooperative operates under a model of collaboration and shared ownership. As a Caregiver-Owned Cooperative, we believe in empowering our home care workers and fostering an environment of mutual support and respect. Our model allows us to prioritize both the well-being of our caregivers and the high-quality care we provide to our clients.

A Commitment to Living Wage: Valuing the Caregiver's Worth

We firmly believe that every caregiver deserves to earn a living wage. At our Cooperative, we are dedicated to helping our caregivers make a sustainable income that reflects the tremendous value they bring to their work. We understand that caregiving is a deeply meaningful profession that requires compassion, expertise, and commitment. Therefore, we strive to ensure that you are compensated fairly for the exceptional care you provide.

Overtime Pay: Recognizing Extra Effort and Dedication

We acknowledge that caregiving responsibilities sometimes extend beyond regular working hours. As part of our commitment to fair compensation, we provide overtime pay to caregivers who work more than 40 hours per week. This means that for each additional hour worked, you will receive time and a half, ensuring that your dedication and hard work are acknowledged and rewarded accordingly.

Because we recognize the value of our caregivers, we also work to avoid overtime hours. We want our home care workers to enjoy the freedom of reliable income, predictable schedules, and quality time outside of their caregiving job.

Our Cooperative Family

By choosing to work at our Home Care Cooperative, you become part of a warm and inclusive community. We prioritize your growth and well-being, providing opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and ongoing training. Our Cooperative culture values transparency, open communication, and collaborative decision-making. We believe in your voice and the vital role you play in shaping our Cooperative's future.
